Bulk Importing Offline Donations

If you'd like to import historical donation data and assign them to a campaign or to profiles within a campaign, Raisely can help to support with this process. After the offline donations have been imported, you can resend receipts and send messages to these donors from within Raisely. The entire process generally takes between 5 to 7 business days, once we've received the CSV File template and the data has been verified. Here are the steps to process this import:

Step 1: Fill up the One-Off Donation Import Template

To start, you'll want to download the One-Off Donation Import Template. Within the file, you'll want to take note of the following:

  • The email field is mandatory and must be unique for each donor. If you do not have the email address, you can use a placeholder for each donor (e.g. donor1@noemail.com, donor2@noemail.com). This will allow you to replace the donor's email address in the future. This is required for the import as importing the donations also creates a user record for the Donors within your Raisely Database
  • The Donation Date, Donation Time and Donation Time Zone fields need to be filled up in the exact format you see within the file
  • Donation Amount should be in cents
  • If the donations are going to a specific profile within the campaign, be sure to indicate the name of the profile within the CSV file. If the donations are going to the campaign, you can leave the profile field blank

Step 2: Create the Campaign (and Profiles if relevant)

While filling up the CSV file, you will need the campaign name(s) and also the fundraiser profile names if the donations are being assigned to specific fundraiser profiles. You'll want to be sure that you've created each campaign first and also the fundraiser profiles. You can do a bulk import of fundraiser profiles if necessary.

Step 3: (Optional) Add a Payment Account and Set it to Active

If you intend to use the campaign to receive online donations, you'll want to connect your payment account and set it to active prior to the import. This will ensure that your imported offline donations and your future online donations can all be seen within the same dashboard.
