Understanding Profiles

Fundraising 'Profiles' are unique and personalised pages created for an individual, team, or organisation fundraisers. They are the core landing pages for peer-to-peer experiences, where friends, family, and others can donate to an individual, helping that person contribute to the collective campaign. In this guide we'll explore the Profile types, how to design/set up Profile pages, and how to manage Profiles throughout a campaign.

🔴  Profiles are only available for Peer to Peer or Community campaign templates. You cannot use Profiles for Appeal, Donation Form, or Ticket templates.

Profiles and Types

Fundraising Profiles are a combination of two elements - the  fundraisers' data gathered through a sign-up form & a single dynamic page that uses this data to define its content. When these elements are combined, the fundraiser has a personalised Fundraising page (Profile) created with its own unique URL (web address). Therefore Profiles have two areas in Raisely we need to be aware of:

  • Fundraising Profiles - from the sidebar, if you select Profiles you will find the home of your fundraisers' data, a list of all the Profiles (containing Profile data) whether they be Individuals, Teams, or Organisations. Here you can view/edit the data and preview the web pages linked to each.

  • Profile Pages - from the sidebar, if you select Pages you will find 3 pages pertaining to Profiles: Fundraising Profile, Team Profile, Organisation Profile. These pages can be populated with unique merge fields to personalise the content for all 3 profile types.

As mentioned, there are 3 different Profile Types you can use in Raisely - Individual, Team, and Organisation. Typically, these are considered within a hierarchy, where Organisation would sit on top, underneath would be Teams, and underneath that would be Individuals. Raisely is even more flexible, allowing you to isolate any number of the 3 different Profile Types for a campaign. You could even use the 3 different Profile types without any hierarchy at all.

Example: School Campaigns - Schools have three common levels to them - the School, the Classrooms, and the Students. Therefore, by using all three Profile Types you can create a great Peer-to-Peer offering for schools.

Setting Up & Profile Data (Sign Up Form)

Fundraising profile types can be enabled/disabled within your Campaign Settings. From the campaign sidebar, simply select Settings > Campaign Settings > and scroll down to Fundraising Profiles. Here you can enable/disable Team or Organisation profiles and also configure the naming for each Profile Type.

Raisely allows you to configure which Data Fields are used for each separate Profile Type. From the campaign sidebar, simply select  Settings > Signup Form > and select the different Profile Type tab to configure the fields independently.

Good Practice: Use the field  Label to create unique names for each field, which the fundraiser sees in the Signup Form.

Designing Profile Pages

If using Raisely's templates 'out-of-the-box' you will find all the Profile Pages styled and ready to go. That being said, there are unique features to each Profile Page that are worth knowing when designing Profile Pages. Here are some:

Call to Action (CTA) - Profile page's primary call to action is DONATE, as they are the public pages that go out to the fundraisers' supporters. Second to this is a CTA to JOIN either a Team or an Organisation. It is worth thinking through the CTAs for each Profile Page

Organisation Pages - Often Organisation Profile pages can be designed as a Landing-Page, replacing your campaign's Home Page as the place to go. Once set up, Organisations may want their staff/team/customers/students to first land on this page, rather than the Home page. Therefore changing the design of this page to clearly represent the Organisations Logo and imagery may be a great idea.

Leaderboards - The Leaderboard block settings have the option to show Profiles for certain Profile types. This means on your Team Page you can just show Individual Profiles from that team or on your Home Page you may just show Organisation Profiles.

Merge Fields - merge fields are common on Profile Pages as this is how the data from the fundraisers' profile is brought into the page. A common example is the Fundraisers Profile name. This example uses #profile name to be the placeholder for this data. Other common examples are #profile description or #profile goal. Whilst the # provides quick shortcuts to the data options, you can also manually enter a merge field - eg. #profile name would be {{current.profile.name}}.

Merge fields can also be used for images, links, and some fields where conditional formatting is available.

There is a lot you can do with Profile pages to make them a unique experience for each fundraiser who signs up. To see more examples, head to our YouTube channel to find tutorials and more.

Managing Profiles

As mentioned above, each Profile is a collection of personal data that the Fundraiser has entered in the Sign Up Form. To view all your Fundraisers and to see this data, from the campaign sidebar, simply select Profiles

Here you can see all Profiles, filter based on Profile Type, switch between Active and Archived profiles, create new Profiles, and run Bulk Profile Imports. To view a Profiles data, select the Profile, and to edit, select Edit. Within a Profile you can also add Members, Offline Donations, and Blog Posts. You also have the option to Archive a Profile, which keeps the Profiles record but removes it from the campaign's totals and view.

The Dashboard

It is worth mentioning the relationship between Profiles and the Dashboard. The Dashboard page is unlike a Profile page in that it is a private page only for a Logged-In User. Though it does become a page in which the User can have easy access to their Profile, both to view it, edit it, and see it's progress. # How can I create a custom link to the signup page, so that the Profile is added to a team or organisation automatically?

When creating links to the Signup form from Team or Organisation Profile pages, you can use custom link query strings to make the Signup Form recognise from which Profile page it came. For example, if you wanted a custom Join Organisation button to link to the Sign-up Form page, and recognise it is from which Organisation it is linked, you would use:

/signup?parentId={{current.profile.path}}

If you wanted a custom link that forces the Sign-up form to create a team for a certain organisation, you could use:

/signup?parentId=current.profile.path}}&startTeam=true

# How can I have the row background or image change for each fundraisers page?

If you have a Profile Field that is an image (eg. Cover Photo), you can use merge fields within the image settings to bring in that image. For example, if you were using the Cover Photo field, you could use:

{{current.profile.public.coverPhoto}}

Note that you need to add public OR private for non-core fields, which is found in the Custom Fields settings under Organisation.
