Legacy Paypal connection deprecation

From the 10th July 2023, Raisely is upgrading how it connects PayPal as a payment account to your campaigns. This will mean a deprecation in the existing setup of your PayPal account connection and will require you to set up a new connection with PayPal before August 14 2023. Please refer to the steps below to prepare your campaigns for this update, and also refer to FAQs for common questions asked.

FAQs

Why the new update to PayPal?

Raisely continues to optimise its platform in order to enable new features and new technology solutions. The new update to the PayPal payment account provides users with a simpler method of connecting their PayPal account, whilst also allowing Raisely to improve donation features now available between the two. Updates made to your payment accounts do not occur regularly, making this new update requirement a rare occasion.

How to set up a new PayPal connection

This update requires you just to set up a new PayPal payment account through the new method, which in turn will automatically replace your existing one.

Setting up a new PayPal account

1
From the campaign sidebar, select  Settings > Payments & Receipts
2
Under Gateway Accounts, select  Connect New Account
3
Select PayPal, then click Configure
4
You'll be taken to PayPal where you can enter your login information. Once done, a prompt will appear letting you know it's connected and you can return to Raisely.

# What will happen between now and August 14th?

When logging into your campaigns, you will see a notification if you have PayPal accounts needing updating. Once you update to the new account, the existing accounts will be removed immediately. If you look to connect PayPal with a new campaign, you will not have your legacy PayPal account available in the Payment Account options. You will need to connect a new PayPal account if you haven't already.

# What new changes does this new connection actually make?

This update enables Raisely to integrate more seamlessly with PayPal, and allows for future enhancements that become available through PayPal. The initial changes include a simpler setup of PayPal accounts and the processing of the Raisely fee. Raisely fees generated through PayPal will no longer be invoiced at the end of the month and charged to the nominated credit card. Instead, like Stripe, the fee will be taken at the time of the donation made, allowing for your accounting and reconciliation processes to be far more seamless. Therefore, you will no longer need a credit card attached to your PayPal account in order to use it with Raisely.
