Updating your Preview Image and Content

When sharing the campaign URL or fundraiser pages on a social media site, a thumbnail preview appears with an image and some text content. To customise this, you'll want to go to your Campaign Settings

1
From your Campaign Dashboard, select Settings > Social Media. Click on the Previews tab
2
Update your Title and Description, which appears along with the thumbnail images.
3
Under Share Image, you can add an image that appears when you are sharing the general campaign URL. Under Profile Page Background Image, you can add a different image that appears when sharing a fundraiser's profile page. The name of the fundraiser profile appears automatically on the image.
4
Hit Save Changes to finalise the changes

🟢 Do note that any future updates to these settings may not appear immediately. This is because social media sites store this content locally when it is first synced to their site and it takes time for them to pull any changes you make. We always recommend planning your content/images in advance as it can take up to two weeks in some instances to be updated successfully. The content you add here will automatically be used for sites like LinkedIn, Facebook and WhatsApp

Customising Twitter Previews

You can update your Twitter share content by clicking on the Twitter tab within the same settings page. This allows you to customise the content that appears when someone shares one of the pages using the Share block.

The URL to the relevant pages are automatically included as part of the tweet, so you don't have to manually add this on your own!

Customising Email Share Content

You can update your Email share content by clicking on the Email tab within the same settings page. Similar to the Twitter settings, it also allows you to customise the content that appears when sharing the campaign over email using the Share option.

🟢 You can add the Share block to any of your Raisely pages, which enables easy sharing options for your campaign site visitors.

Basic Troubleshooting Steps

If your social sharing media image/content is not being updated, here are a few things you can consider doing:

1

Checking your settings for a duplicated campaign. If you duplicated your campaign, this would've carried over the Social Media sharing settings. You'll need to manually update this and wait for the social media sites to pull the updated information.

2

Using Facebook Debugger or LinkedIn Post Inspector. These tools are provided by the respective social media pages. It does not guarantee an immediate resolution, but it can help to use these in some cases to expedite the update process. There are no tools available for Twitter or WhatsApp.

3
Checking your Page Editor Page Settings. If you have updated the Sharing settings on a specific page, this can override and cause issues to your general social media sharing settings. Removing any content you've added to the Page Settings will be a good first step to getting this resolved.

# Why does it take so long for my social media sharing settings to be updated on the social media site?

In most instances, this has to do with caching within the individual social media platforms. They do this so that the social sharing previews load up quickly to ensure a good user experience. The social media sites do not specify how long it takes for this content to be updated, but some forums and documentation indicate it can take up to two weeks.

# Why does the social media sharing content not appear for other social media platforms?

This is mostly a limitation on the social media platform's site and we do not have control over this.
